Question: A 22 year old female undergoes endonasal septoplasty for nasal obstruction. On postoperative day 2 she calls in with increased pain and wonders whether this is within normal postoperative convalescence. Other than pain, what is the symptom that would raise most concern for nasal septal hematoma? [Answer will be posted with next week's new question]
Answer to last week's question, Head On Collision (March 21, 2016):
Open reduction internal fixation. Obliteration of the sinus is not necessary in this context, but the patient should be warned of signs of mucocele formation as a potential late complication.
