Defined by an anatomical region rather than an organ system, the field of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery covers an incredible breadth and depth of medical and surgical care. Over the last century, the field has evolved considerably and now encompasses seven distinct subspecialties including pediatric otolaryngology, rhinology, facial plastic surgery, neurotology, surgical oncology, laryngology, and sleep surgery.
Headmirror.com was founded in 2009 to provide otolaryngology residents and interested medical students a centralized resource for information on specialty and subspecialty choice, tips on a successful match, educational links and resources, and dates of important upcoming meetings and events. Here you may view several recent peer-reviewed publications regarding educational content on our site and a brief “Year in Review, 2022” short video about new content and site viewership. The website was fully redesigned in 2014. In February 2015 Headmirror formed a partnership with Otomatch.com, a well-established forum for prospective Otolaryngology residents containing over 2,000 separate discussion threads accumulated since 2001. The Surgical Video Atlas series was initiated in 2017 and the Podcast “ENT in a Nutshell,” focusing on high-yield clinical review, was initiated in 2020. In February 2022 Headmirror developed a partnership with The Auricle, a resource for medical students that aims to share new and exciting Otolaryngology research updates in a concise format. Most recently, Headmirror Inc. received 501(c)(3) non-profit status to support our educational service-directed mission.
